You've have to work at Oboz to know more about Oboz hiking boots than me. I've hiked more than 2000 miles in the Oboz Bridger and more than 1000 miles in the Oboz Sawtooth. Plus, I've tested and reviewed the Sawtooth Pro, Katabatic LT Mid, and Katabatic RT. My Oboz hiking boots guide explains who should choose the Bridger, Sawtooth, Sawtooth Pro, Sawtooth Ascent, Katabatic LT, or Katabatic RT.

- Katabatic LT Mid is best for fast hikes on groomed trails or hikers who prefer lightweight hiking boots
- Sawtooth Ascent is Oboz's best hiking boot on a budget
- Sawtooth X is the best Oboz hiking boot for the average day hiker
- Sawtooth Pro is the best Oboz hiking boot for upgraded (GORE-TEX) waterproofing & Vibram outsoles

- Bridger is the best Oboz hiking boot if you want one boot for both dayhiking and backpacking
- Bridger Ridge is the Oboz hiking boot with the most ankle support for backpacking
Oboz Katabatic LT
Best Lightweight Oboz Hiking Boot
The Oboz Katabatic LT ("Light") is a lightweight hiking boot that's made for light hiking. I've hiked the Maroon Bells in mine, but they're better for less serious trails. (Learn more in my full review.) The LT runs slightly narrow in its regular size, but it's also available in wide. If you prefer a lightweight hiking boot to a more supportive one, the Katabatic LT is the best Oboz hiking boot for your hikes.
Oboz Sawtooth Ascent Hiking Boot
Budget Oboz Hiking Boot
The Oboz Sawtooth Ascent is the most budget-friendly Oboz hiking boot. With footwear prices skyrocketing in 2026, the Ascent is one of the least expensive (real) hiking boots on the market. If you're looking to save $25-40 on your hiking boots, the Sawtooth Ascent is an entry-level hiking boot at the budget price point.
Oboz Sawtooth X Mid
Best Selling Oboz Hiking Boot
The Sawtooth X is the most popular Oboz hiking boot for the average hiker. This long-time best seller is flexible enough for easier trails yet sturdy enough for harder hikes, too. The Sawtooth is similar to the Bridger below, but the Bridger has more leather and more aggressive traction. I've owned two pairs of Sawtooths, which performed best on moderate terrain in Australia and the US. (Here's my review.) It's available in standard and wide sizes.
Oboz Sawtooth X Pro
Premium Oboz Hiking Boot
The Sawtooth X Pro is the premium version of the best-selling Sawtooth hiking boot. For an extra $15, the Pro upgrades the Sawtooth to GORE-TEX waterproofing, Vibram rubber outsoles, and full-grain leather uppers for added performance and durability. These updates arguably make the Sawtooth Pro a better hiking boot than the Oboz Bridger.
Oboz Katabatic RT ("Rugged Terrain")
Stiff Oboz Day Hiking Boot
The Katabatic RT is a modern-looking hiking boot made for "rugged terrain" ("RT"). (I've personally tested and reviewed the low-cut RT.) The Katabatic RT is much heavier than the Katabatic LT and much stiffer than the Sawtooth, so its best use is harder day hikes on rough trails that call for a sturdier hiking boot. If you prefer this look and want a supportive hiking boot, the Oboz Katabatic RT may be the best Oboz hiking boot for you.
Oboz Bridger
Best Oboz Hiking & Backpacking Boot
Oboz's flagship hiking boot, the Bridger is a burly leather hiking boot for tougher day hikes or backpacking trips. Over 2000 miles of hiking, I've appreciated its support, protective toe box, and aggressive traction on steep descents. I've found it traction is better than the Sawtooth (above) on steep trails with mud, snow, or loose sediments. If you want one hiking boot for both day hiking AND backpacking, the Bridger is the best Oboz hiking boot.
Oboz Bridger Ridge
High-Cut Oboz Backpacking Boot
The Oboz Bridger Ridge is a beefed up version of the Bridger with high-cut ankle support, GORE-TEX waterproofing, and more. If you're a backpacker who wants the best ankle support, the Bridger Ridge is the best Oboz hiking boot for you.

How to Choose Oboz Hiking Boots
The key to buying hiking boots is the choosing the best fit for your feet and best match for your hikes.
Oboz hiking boots have similar fits. Each of their hiking boots fit snug in the heel with a standard fit in the midfoot. The brand's best sellers—the Sawtooth, Bridger, and Katabatic LT—are also available in wide sizes.
So choosing the best Oboz hiking boot for YOU mostly boils down to your hiking style. Oboz makes each of its hiking boots for a particular type of hiking—from light dayhiking to hardcore backpacking. A good rule of thumb is to buy the Oboz hiking boot made for the type of hiking you do most of the time.

Why buy Oboz hiking boots?
As I elaborate in my Oboz brand review, Oboz hiking boots stand out for their fit, comfort, and durability. While Oboz has always been a good brand for sturdy hiking boots like the Sawtooth and Bridger, the Katabatic LT adds a legit, lightweight hiking boot to the brand's line up. I've been wearing Oboz hiking boots for more than ten years—and more than 3,000 miles—and don't hesitate recommending them to men and women who hike.
My hope is that this guide will help you choose the best Oboz hiking boots for your hiking style.
