Best Hiking Boots for Narrow Feet 2026

Jory, hikingfeet.com

As a rule of thumb, European brands make the best hiking boots for narrow feet. The narrowest fits I've found over 15,000+ miles of first-hand testing are Italian brands, especially Asolo and La Sportiva. Salomons run snug in the heel and slightly narrow in the toe box, too. My curated list of the best hiking boots for narrow feet highlights the boots that have most squeezed my feet—and the boots I recommended the most to my customers when I was a Gearhead at Backcountry and footwear manager at Appalachian Outdoors.

Best Hiking Boots for Narrow Feet

In 2026, the best hiking boots for narrow feet are the Salomon Cross Hike 2, adidas TERREX Free Hiker 2, La Sportiva Nucleo II High, and LOWA Renegade EVO GTX. I've personally tested and reviewed each of these hiking boots, which were too narrow for my hiking feet. Scroll down to see the recommended uses for each boot.

SALOMON CROSS HIKE 2 MID GTX

Lightweight Hiking Boot for Narrow Feet

Main Benefits:

  • Lightweight build for fast or easy hikes
  • GORE-TEX waterproofing
  • Good traction for mud and gravel
  • Snug in the heel with tapered toe box
  • Crossover appeal for urban style

The Salomon Cross Hike 2 has crossover appeal for men and women who want a lightweight hiking boot for fast hikes and more casual wear. I've personally tested and reviewed the Cross-Hike, which is too narrow for my moderately wide feet. But that's a plus for narrow-footed hikers who will enjoy Salomon's snug fit in the heel and its tapered toe boxes. The Quicklaces seem too long for this boot. However, it's got great looks, good traction for muddy and gravelly trails, and a build that's best for fast hikers with light packs. If you're looking for a narrow hiking boot to wear from the peak to the pub, I recommend the Salomon Cross Hike 2 GTX.

ADIDAS TERREX FREE HIKER 2

Casual Hiking Boot for Narrow Feet

Main Benefits:

  • Lightweight
  • Extra-cushioned for comfort
  • GORE-TEX is durably waterproof and breathable
  • adidas TERREX runs narrower in the forefoot

The adidas TERREX Free Hiker 2 is the best casual hiking boot for narrow feet. This hiking sneaker boasts a boatload of Boost foam—used in adidas's best running shoes—for a super-cushioned ride. But it's also more technical than you might think. The Free Hiker 2 has a lightweight EVA stabilizing frame that adds some mid-foot support and ankle stability, waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX, and Continental outsoles for tire-like traction on multi-surface trails. I've personally owned two pairs, which I mostly wore for travel, urban hikes, and well-maintained trails. My customers who work on their feet also love the Free Hiker's all-day comfort.

If you're a casual hiker who prioritizes comfort and doesn't hike tough trails, the Free Hiker 2 is one of the best hiking boots for narrow feet.

LA SPORTIVA NUCLEO HIGH GTX

Hiking and Backpacking Boot for Narrow Feet

Main Benefits:

  • Lightweight by backpacking standards
  • High-cut ankle collars
  • Vibram Megagrip
  • GORE-TEX Surround
  • Runs Narrow

The La Sportiva Nucleo High II GTX is the lightest high-cut hiking boot on the market, so it's a popular pick for hikers who want a lighter boot without losing ankle support. It's also the most versatile, high-performing hiking boot on this list. The Nucleo High is light and athletic with high end traction (Vibram Megagrip) and the most breathable waterproofing on the market (GORE-TEX Surround). For 500 miles, I wore mine for difficult day hikes and backpacking trips across Pennsylvania. If you're a hiker with narrow feet, the Nucleo High II is a good match for moderate to difficult day hikes and occasional backpacking trips.

LOWA RENEGADE EVO GTX

Hiking/Backpacking Boot Available in Narrow

Main Benefits:

  • Stability and support
  • Premium leather
  • Vibram Outsoles
  • Available in a narrow size

Updated in 2025, the LOWA Renegade EVO GTX is the best hiking boot for backpackers with narrow feet. This prototypical backpacking boot ticks all the boxes. Sturdy outsoles and ankle support? Check. Soft leather that forms to your feet? Check. GORE-TEX waterproofing? Check. Vibram outsoles? Check. LOWA's standard size runs slightly narrow. Plus, this is the rare hiking boot offered in a narrow width (which is hard to find). I've personally owned four pairs of LOWA Renegades over the years, so I personally can attest to their snug fit (even when sizing up extra).

ASOLO FUGITIVE GTX

Best Backpacking Boot for Narrow Feet

Main Benefits:

  • Stability and support
  • GORE-TEX
  • PU Midsoles
  • Narrow fit

The Asolo Fugitive GTX (men) and Stynger GTX (women) is a badass hiking boot make for hardcore backpacking and off trail hiking. Heavier and stiffer than the average hiking boot, this one's a brawler with plenty of foot and ankle support for carrying a heavier pack through harsher terrain. As with several boots on this list, it also features GORE-TEX waterproofing and Vibram outsoles. Another classic Italian brand, Asolos run narrow, making this one of the best backpacking boots for narrow feet.
